The Human Interface Society Award.
The research paper presented by Katsumi Hayashi and Naoki Kaneko, fourth-year students in our laboratory, at the 217th Human Interface Society Meeting held on December 27, 2024, received this year's Human Interface Society Award (21st Society Award).
Subject Paper:
Katsumi Hayashi, Naoki Kaneko, Chie Ishida, Taichi Sato, Shiho Nishida, Taro Kanno, and Haruka Yoshida: "The Design of a Board Game for Learning Disaster BCP in Home-Visit Nursing," Technical Reports of Human Interface Society of Japan Vol. 26, No. 10, pp. 17-22, (2024).
The Human Interface Society gives this award to three research projects that the Award Review Committee evaluates as particularly outstanding in terms of "academic contribution," "novelty," and "usefulness" from among all the research projects (about 200 or so) presented during a year at research meetings in six major fields of the Human Interface Society of Japan.
This research proposed a simulation board game for learning how to respond to disasters in the home health care nursing business and using the insights gained to formulate a Business Continuity Plan (BCP). It also demonstrated the effectiveness of the prototype for understanding and training BCPs. The originality of the game design, which promotes effective learning while having fun, and the practical significance of contributing to BCP understanding and training for home nursing practitioners were highly evaluated, leading to the award this time.
